I have seen GoBack in action and it is a big help in some cases.
On the newer versions of GoBack I think there is an option when the GoBack splashscreen comes up that ask if you wish to see the drive and boot from floppy or CD. Not in those words but mean the same thing.
You can try that if you wish. Some times the it works and sometimes it doesn't.

The restore in Windows XP does just about the same thing, I takes a snapshot of vital system data and stores it on the hard disk.
