avast! Anti-Theft can also be used as standalone Anti-Theft app, do not forget that :-)
Its standalone, but tightly integrated to Mobile Security.

All the features that Theft Aware had - and even more - are also present in avast! Anti-Theft!

So what's happening to Theft Aware? Why should people get it if this is free?
Well, it is stand alone anti-theft app, some may prefer it, IMHO.
Just one, maybe dumb question, is real-time scanner in this app? Couldn't find any mention of it.
AFAIK only web shield.
Edit by Vlk: of course it is there ;) - Just try with an Eicar, for example.

Just one question, what will be in the free version and what will be payable? I'm guessing anti-theft or at least the more advanced parts of it will be payable...

We are giving away everything we've got for free.
There will be no premium (paid) version for the time being.

Is there info on what happens to Theft Aware customers?  I'm not seeing much in the forums at all.  I have the same question as others, and yes it was addressed in the post I quoted, but only partially.  It says "for the time being" which leads that there may be a paid version at some point.  Are our Theft Aware unbound licenses going to transfer?

As well, I think maybe some communication would be grand.  Maybe sending an email to all Theft Aware owners (I'm sure you've got their email addy's from old forums) and letting them know to come here, as well as instructions on what to do.  Do I fully uninstall TA and forget about it and begin going with Avast! Mobile Security?  Is the website that those of us in the beta were using going to be updated?  Is Avast's version of that website part of this beta?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm just not seeing much information with regards to everything going on.

Thank you,
Ron

Not really working good, but knowing it's an Avast! App, I'm sure it'll work wonders when all the issues are fixed, keep it up people! C:

There is a typo in advanced Anti-Theft settings-Software updates. It should be 'click' instead of 'klick' ;)

If you have problems with the Anti-Theft part of the avast! suite, please, post your issue in the right forum branch which starts somewhere here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=38.0

Thanks!

So TA buyers get screwed, it's free now and later you'll probably create a new premium version that we have to buy again.  And before you say you have no plans for a premium remember "no plans" does not mean "will not".  I want TA without the avast crap on my phone so how do I install/update TA without having to involve avast mobile security?  Was concerned avast would destroy a great product, starting to look that way.  Wasted my money of this software  >:(

Just install first the mobile security from avast. There download theft aware, its still a stand alone editon. After that, you can uninstall the mobile security and use theft aware as stand alone.

I must say that the gui from ta is now much better :) Lets see whats going on :D

The only time you waste money on software is if it isn't any good.

Tested in Motorola Xoom and it scans a installed app, but can't scan manually all the apps and enter the interface of avast
