Disabling The Notification Icon Unsafe?

Why is disabling the notification icon less safe?  If this is true, can it be made transparent like Perfect Applock?

We are trying to make it as safe as it is with the notification icon, but it will take a little bit more time if it is possible. If the icon would be made transparent, it would still consume the same space on the notification bar as the current icon does.
