Wake Up From Sleep To Check For Updates?
« on: December 12, 2011, 12:37:22 AM »
I am using Avast 6 Free on a computer that is usually in sleep mode. I have an automatic scan set to run every other day and to wake up the computer if needed from sleep. I also have Avast configured to automatically check for updates every 1440 minutes (24 hours).

I note that on occasion (and I cannot quite figure it out), this computer is on when I think it should be asleep. I am wondering if Avast wakes up the computer from sleep to perform the update as it does for doing the scan.

I cannot find any documentation on this. Does anyone know? Thanks

avast does NOT wake up the computer just to update.
Scanning is another thing. It should work, although, in some systems, it's known it's fail to wake up.

Thanks for the confirmation. I have no problems with Avast waking up my computer to scan. It must be something else causing the premature wake up.

Maybe Windows Event Viewer could help?

Good idea. However I went there first. It is not clear that whatever it was is causing anything to be written to the event queue. Drats!
