Avast Error -- HELP!!!

I have a serious problem here. My Avast anti-virus doesn't work anymore. The problem is:

When I want to start Avast it gives the following error: avast: The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error. The operation could not be completed.

Now I don't have any protection against viruses. Can anyone help me quickly please how to solve this problem, because I don't have on-access scanner anymore...

What WIN dou you have ?
-a board search for the exact error message will help ..
-first make sure you are not infected by Blaster/lovsan and apply all necessary patches (see Board-Topics). Best  RUN WINDOWSUPDATE until there are no critical patches to install.
-then try to restart the RPCss service and ensure it is set to automatic,
if the following reboot won't help, I'd advise a clean uninstall and reinstall of Avast
