If you cannot update windows that would suggest an infection of some sort

its not malware, its a clean pc. I cant run any .msi's so i assume is a corrupt one. Also, mbam has found nothing. further proof that its not malware is the c++ install wont work. or saints row the third. awsmbr just gave my pc the BSOD. Thanks alot  >:(

If it is a clean PC how do you have so many problems ?

The BSOD is not a problem as the system will restart, at what stage did you get the BSOD ?

Also, mbam has found nothing
it proves nothing as MBAM is a specialised tool targeting limited types of malware.....and no security program have 100% detection

If you have a 32bit Vista then from the following page download and run the MS file http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
All supported x86-based versions of Windows Vista

Then retry windows updates
