Theft aware isn't working!
« on: December 18, 2011, 08:06:06 AM »
Hello
My theft aware isn't working properly. I read a review about the software and right away run to buy it.
I have Galaxy S I9000.
When i change the sim, it doesn't send to the notification number the new number! So i can't send any commmands. I have also tried to uninstall TA via adb and install the new version of avast.
When i send test notification sms - it works...

You should make a search through IMEI....

Uninstall using Titanium Backup, first of all disable AT.
Then go to Android market and DL Avast mobile security.

PS: is the version you installed "Theft Aware" or "avast! Anti-Theft"? I suggest installing Anti-Theft as this fixes a lot of issues that still were present with Theft Aware!

With the new version it worked.

Although, if the theif will put off the sim card, and use it without sim - there is no chance to get it back. too bad there is no other way to search via IMEI.
Another thing: The theif will see AVAST program in the apps list...

Normally you cant use the phone without a simcard but yes there are phones that lets you do it.
Where and in what list is avast visible?

Yes, you can see Avast in application list, but if you enable antitheft and enable stealth mode there, you can not see antitheft in the application list. So the thief can uninstall the Avast, but antitheft will be still there.

Now there are only few operators alowing using the device without SIM card; collecting IMEI is not good way how to deal with customers, even for their own good.

Didn't knew that.
Anyway, I have enabled Stealth mode, tried to deal the password and nothing. it's calling the number as usual...
About the IMEI: I don't agree but let's not get into it.

It means, that if you will try to call antitheft by your PIN which have been set previously in basic settings and antitheft is enabled your device will normally begin the call?
