toggling email sheild broke ssl encryption
« on: December 19, 2011, 06:36:20 PM »
Hi

I have been using avast fine now for a few weeks for email scanning.  Today to help me debug a new installed ssl cert on a server I temporarily disabled the email shield.  When I turned it back on again all email connections are going unencrypted to the email servers.

I can confirm from raw logs on the server the connections are unencrypted and been sent as configured in the mail client and not the ssl config in avast.

The warn if unencrypted is ticked in avast also and isnt warning me.

I was first alerted as one of my mail servers is ssl/tls only no plain and this started rejecting my login which made me check all the others.

Also avast appears to still scan emails as its signing them.  So the scanning is enabled but the ssl function isnt working.

after a reboot avast redetected and applied SSL correctly.

so the problem is resolved by rebooting.

The concern for me tho is that there is no warnign from avast itself that ssl stopped working, I think its a good idea to have SSL/TLS info posted on the signature appends to emails.
