when I use the task manager to clear some memory, it closes the on-access scanner. Is this normal?  ??? ??? ??? is there any kind of self-protection as the windows version? thx

Hi,

what exactly do you mean by "on-access scanner"?

Off course force closing Avast with deleting it´s data is not good idea (I do not know which task manager you use, but many of them do exactly the same) - it will respawn, but sometimes the icon will not appear back - do you have the icon on or off?

@ Filip Havlicek
on-access scanner is the orange icon on the left top side.

@ Jan Svehlak
I use the built-in manager, the manager closes the icon and I have to reboot to get it back...

Do you mean the application manager or the task manager? In both you can kill it, but in task manager you can kill the services - in this case only webshield will respawn, the rest will be waiting for next restart.
