A couple of suggestions
« on: December 08, 2011, 09:33:40 AM »
First of all, for a beta this works great.good job putting it together. Although I feel some things need to be addressed.

1.) Tablet support. I am wondering when this will be available. I tried installing it on a toshiba thrive, but it seems to force closes on first scan. That's OK though, didn't expect it to work. The program does run correctly it appears, just disappears when it starts first scan and hangs at 0%.

2.) I really need a web based site to locate and find my phone in the event of it being stolen. Text messages are great, but you have to remember those commands then so that you can control the phone. Lookout makes this easy.

3.) A option to have the avast logo in the status bar to be hidden. I like it there, but there should be a option for users.

Things I love:

1.) The GUI. Looks great, easy on the eyes.

2.) The scan speed, simply fast. Just like avast on windows. Fantastic job.

3.) The many options available for protection.

4.) The web browser protection

1) Did you reboot after installing avast?
2) hmmm, my Thrive is not a phone
3) the newest version ...1069 allows you to not display the icon. I see no point in not displaying.

I am trialing it on a Thrive tablet. Works great. See my blurb in the Beta section

No reason to be rude about it..just because it works for you does not mean it works for everyone else.

1.) Yes I did. I even tried reinstalling.

2.) I am aware its not a phone...I would like tablet support.

3.) I do not want the option...just thought others would.

I'll retry again tonight to see if I can get it to work.

I still would like to see a website to locate devices instead of text messaging.

Overall, I find avast mobile to be great.

Hi,

1) If it force closed and you sent us the report via Android Market, the bug should be fixed some time in the future (might have been fixed already actually).

3) The option is in the Settings in 1.0.1069 as cooby says.

That's just it....it didn't force close...it just got stuck. The tablet didn't freeze, just the app did. Its really odd. Every other app I have works fine btw.

What does it mean exactly that the app froze? You got the ANR? What was the application doing at that time?

First scan or every scan? Scan of apps or SD card or both? Which version do you have?

After messing with it, uninstalling and everything, I went into a file manager and deleted everything I saw that related to avast and theft aware. Then restarted. Tried once more and volia! I was able to complete the first set up scan! It now works fine. :) I am very happy as I love avast products and was glad I finnaly got it working on here. Anyways, glad to also see that a web based site will be coming around January to manage a stolen device. Awesome news. Thanks all. Have a mery Christmas, happy holidays.
