Error 10022
« on: November 23, 2004, 07:47:51 PM »
I've recently upgraded from version 4.1 to the new 4.5.523, and it was after the upgrade I started to encounter this error.  I had no problems prior to the upgrade, and have not insatalled any new software/hardware.   I'm running Win XP SP1, with McAfee Personal Firewall Plus.

It was suggested in another post to upgrade to the beta 4.5.529, but still get the error.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but cannot prevent the error from reappearing.  At the moment I am unable to scan incoming or outgoing emails, so would appreciate any suggestions.

Setup your mail as if Avast isn't there. Let us know if that solves the problem...

Also have a look at the links Technical posted HERE

Sorry, should have mentioned, but it already is.
I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird 0.9, as I was with version 4.1.

Forgot to ask. Please check Avast log file(s) for errors. If there is one (or more) let us know what the exact error is.

Do you have any other antivirus installed in your computer, specially with email scanner?

Do you use any spam killer?
Which port (number) does it get the email and spam?

I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird 0.9, as I was with version 4.1.

Did you setup it to work as avast is not installed? The version 4.5 has a new mail detection that will work automatically. Please, set up your email account just as avast does not exists. It will detect the pop3/smpt/imap ports and scan your messages.

New email detection is automatic and do not require user interaction. Anyway, spam killer applications need manually change email account settings  ;)

Can you make a try and see if it's ok? Thanks.

I followed the links and tried the other suggestions, which is how I ended up installing the beta 4.5.529 version.

I don't have any other anti-virus installed, and no spam software.  My mail client is already set up with the server names from my ISP.

The following are the only messages in the logs:

Not sure that error is relevant to the problem I'm having, it seems to be something to do with updating, so I tried doing just that.

I now have version 4.5.523.  I rebooted as requested and had no error.  Tried downloading mail, and eveything was working as it should.

I then had a vague recolection that this occured when first upgrading to version 4.5.  It was only after shutting down and then restarting the PC the following day that I first got the error.  With this in mind, I shut down the PC and restarted,  and guess what?  the same error is back again, and no new entries in the log file.

Any more suggestions, anyone?
