Installing Kodak hero 3.1 printer
« on: December 21, 2011, 09:50:26 PM »
I can't seem to install my new printer and the Kodak guy says I have to turn off the firewall and then I will be able to do it, then turn it back on.  How do I turn off the firewall?
thanks

Welcome to the forum.
What operating system ??? Which firewall are you using ???
What security software is installed on your computer ???
The more information you provide, the easier it will be to help you.
Remember, we aren't sitting in front of your computer, you are.  ;D

Windows Professional
PC Medkit
Avast
AVG
Windows Firewall
All these were disabled, nothing.  And the installed printer does not show in Printers and Faxes.
Ideas anyone?

Best to uninstall Avg as it should not be on the system with avast at the same time working or not, uninstall from remove programs, reboot and run the correct removal tool from here http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ Number 2 in the list and reboot after running.
Does the printer install now ? Have you installed the driver CD that come with the printer ?

You shouldn't have to disable the firewall but if you absoloutely have to then go to control panel\windows firewall and there will be somewhere there to turn it off ( you didn't say what version of windows pro - xp, vista, win7 ? )

Windows XP.

XP SP3 installed?

I wonder if this printer is connected using an IP port.
