Risk of running into malware greatly exaggerated!
« on: January 13, 2012, 02:04:34 AM »
Hi forum friends,

If users read the virus and worms postings, they may come to the conclusion malware lures around every corner. No it is not, do not panick. Protected by firewall and avast you do not run so many risks. Malware downloads form a greater risk then browsing into malware. Remember the avast shields are also protecting us.
So secure surfing habits, staying away from particular content and common sense makes the chance of running in to malware minimal. Do not panick, you have avast, feel protected,

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Polonus,

The complexity and breadth of Avast! is so wide and broad I am constantly learning about the new things it does in the latest version.

Incredible!

Too bad there does not yet seem to be pro-active protection against rogue program malware such as XP Antivirus Suite 2012 or the Win 7 version.  I understand it takes only a moment for these type of programs to self-install, then BAM!

Install and always update MBAM and SAS if you haven't already done so.

EDIT:  Line about MBAM and SAS was not for you, but other users of Avast!  Sorry 'bout that.  It is better to be prepared with defenses than be without.
