Force scan on reboot. How please?
« on: November 26, 2004, 02:35:43 PM »
Hi All,

I've probably just missed summat easy but how (on XP) can you get Avast! to do a boot scan? I generally do the install one and I have seen the option come up when doing a manual scan but I can't find where to make it schedule one?

All the best ..

(this will be two posts long)

1) Right click the avast! "A" icon in the taskbar (next to your system clock), and select "Start Avast! Anti-virus" (see below)

Ah .. thanks for that ... (found) ..

However .. when I right click the 'A' and choose 'Start Avast! Antivirus' it takes me to the std Avast! user panel .. the same as if I had started it from the start menu or the desktop icon?

I didn't get up the second menu till I right clicked on the panel? (I just mentioned that in case I have a different setup to norm?). Is that how it works for you?

So, would 'right click on the std avast manual scan panel' also be a valid description of how to get there?

All the best and thanks to all for the help  (and how many times do I tell folk to right click on stuff .. <sigh>)

Yes this is normal, they all open the same panel, I just normally right click the avast icon in the toolbar because i rather it this way.

I did actually have a look at help and was offered ...

"Scheduling the Boot Time Scan

Click on the Menu button.
Choose Schedule Boot Time Scan. "

Which is fine if you can get the menu button in the first place (and I still havent found one?) I thought it might have been someting that was not offered on A4H so have learnt it's quicker to ask those who know.

Luckily there are some that realise that we can all need help sometimes .. and that help rarely comes from RTFM or help files (one can't see the wood for the trees etc). If it was the case we wouldn't need support forums so much?

All the best .. ;-)
