We're seeing WildList Misses in quite some of tests...
Really hope avast 7 can turn this tendency.

What is a "WildList miss"?
Those are 'in the wild' - zero day threats.

What is a "WildList miss"?

A virus/malware which is in the wild (on the net or elsewhere) and isn't detected.

A rare failure, the last one was on December 2008 and that was for 1 False Positive.

Would be nice if it can be "turned" in 6.

and for which no detection signatures have been developed.

If you look at the vendors that failed this latest test, most are signature based AVs.

At least you know to stay away for Webroot - 2700+ false positives!

Appears those vendors with "cloud" scanners of unknowns did better.

Notice that MSE passed? I really think it's time to put to bed the jokes about its detection capabilities.

I don't think I'd feel too bad about the avast test. Norton also failed.  ;D

The best antivirus programs in the world will only catch 70% of spyware, so, that means a miss is inevitable with very program out there.  It is going to happen, sooner or later.

The reason we sell avast!; I have never had a virus spread through an avast! protected network in the 9 years I have sold and supported avast!.  I cannot make that statement about any other product, though I am limited to McAfee, Symantec, Norton, AVG, and MSE.  This is the primary goal of network protection, is too keep the network clean.  The avast! network shield is superior, in my opinion.
Sincerely,
