Cannot Reove Threat in Boot Scan
« on: January 22, 2012, 08:07:35 PM »
Avast found a threat and moved it to chest but recommended a boot scan.Boot scan results were password protected and cannot remove them. Each time I try  a different application to repair move to chest delete etc, it won't remove in teh4 boot scan. Run another boot scan 2 hrs later =same problem. Any suggestions most welcome

Best to leave detections in the chest until your sure what they are, what is the full name / path of the detection ?

Boot scan results were password protected
this sound like a scan error....avast saying it could not scan the archive bc it was password protected...was that it ?

files that can not be scanned are just that, and does not mean they are infected

if you could post a screen shot of the scan result we may be able to give you more info

Likely to be unable to post a screenshot whilst in the boot-time scan as the software to do it isn't available. Taking a picture of the screen is different, but the easier bet is looking at the boot-time scan report file.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\report\aswBoot.txt XP location.

C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\aswBoot.txt Vista, win7 location.

Avast found a threat and moved it to chest

If the first detection was not a boot scan, please try to attach a screenshot, or info about it (maybe from avast chest).

About the boot scan, follow the instructions already provided by previous posts.
