How can I disable (deregister) CreditAlert?
« on: January 26, 2012, 12:01:27 AM »
AvastSvc.exe crashes on me constantly. I think this may be related to CreditAlert. How do I deregister/deactivate CreditAlert? I see the "Enable displaying the alerts" option under Maintenance, but does that disable the checking? There are options to Register and Reactivate, but none to DEREGISTER. I would like to obliterate my affiliation with this feature.

What? No. I just installed avast cleanly after months of not using it. I notified them ages ago of these crashes, sent dumps, tried to be interactive and helpful, and was ignored. (At the time, I was a paid customer, thanks for asking. I demanded a refund and after aggravation, finally got one.)

I've just decided I'm done with it for good. Goodbye permanently, avast. Congratulations, you've joined the ranks of Norton and Kaspersky on my "permaban" list.

The OP may have gotten the answer he needed if he/she posted in the CreditAlert section of the forum http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=45.0 for CreditAlert.  Hopefully they will see this.
