behaviour shield questions...alerts...
« on: January 27, 2012, 04:26:37 AM »
hey guys im just asking that why does avast never gives us an alert when it blocks something with its behaviour shield with the settings on auto-decide? furthermore is it a good idea to put avast's behaviour shield on auto-decide or ask?

Have you ever seen it block anything on Auto-Decide?

I would wager not, since all it does is scan "suspicious events", and it does not block those, it just logs them as suspicious.

So there is your reason for no alert.....there is nothing blocked, so no alert is given.

As to how to set it....thats up to you.  "Ask" is only safe if you know the right answer......auto-decide is passive.   I just leave mine alone, and it leaves me alone.

so what configuration do you use for the behaviour shield? and if you put it on auto-decide when will it only give an alert when blocking? and on ask... when the alert shows ....modify a protected resource what must we answer?

Default.  Auto.
and if you put it on auto-decide when will it only give an alert when blocking?
Auto-decide means no alerts.  So if it did ever block anything, you would get no alert anyway.
and on ask... when the alert shows ....modify a protected resource what must we answer?
I don't know, I have only ever set it on Ask for brief periods.

edit:correcting myself, this was wrong:
and if you put it on auto-decide when will it only give an alert when blocking?
Auto-decide means no alerts.  So if it did ever block anything, you would get no alert anyway.
You would get an alert, just the decisions to block/allow is carried out automaticly

It comes in a yellow box saying:

action bocked

it even gives other details of what it was....like a normal avast alert
