having problems with certain programs

I recently had to take my computer back to factory specs which meant that I had to reinstall avast! among other things. For some reason after I reinstalled BitTorrent I was having a problem with it. I wrote on the forum on the BitTorrent website, but they were less than helpful. I'm not really sure if the problem has to do with avast! but I was wondering if someone could help me figure something out. I already know the website isn't blocked, but the problem I'm having is downloading anything.

Unless we are talking about AIS, the only potential relation between the problem and this subforum is avastsvc.exe in your firewall.

Bittorrent needs to be allowed in your firewall (and I think there is such a setting in Bittorrent that takes care of the built in Windows firewall automatically, but you may need to save the setting, exit bittorrent and reboot to make it work).

Are you having connection problems with any other software (like web browsers or avast)?

I wish I understood these things more. I'll have to reinstall Bit Torrent to see what you're talking about (forgot I got rid of it again). The only other thing I'm having problems with the "software" for a website called IMVU. I really don't think avast is effecting that. People have been complaining about the recent update not working so I think it was everything to do with problems at IMVU's end.

I have many clients with BitTorrent installed and have never had any issues with avast!  We use BPP with the firewall at Advantage Micro, and have no issues, and have not had to modify the firewall settings at all for BitTorrent.  J.R.
