I'm surprised no one has mentioned this.
Pre-avast, it was possible to leave a considerably longer message on the screen when you activate the lock feature of Theft Aware.
I'm no longer able to leave the message I want for the thief, or the finder if the phone is lost.
I want to say thanks for finding my lost phone (no point accusing anyone of stealing!), let them know it's now useless to anyone but me due to both hardware and software features, and give two phone numbers and an email to discuss a reward.
Until this is brought back I'll need to stick with my original installation.
