Files have been corrupting a lot lately
« on: February 02, 2012, 09:53:28 PM »
Hello everyone,

I have had to use my windows disc to recover corrupted files many, many times over the past few months that I've had this computer. I want to make sure it's not being caused by a virus.

I have posted the logs from the sticky post's directions in this post. Malwarebytes did not find anything.

Thank you :)

My issue right now is that whenever I start up my computer, I get an error screen saying some file is corrupted (usually it's different every time)

I then go to "Start Windows normally" and it usually boots normally, but sometimes I need to use the Windows disc to repair first.

the next time you start windows and you are on the desktop, grab your windows 7 dvd if you have one and do this

Windows 7 System Files with System File Checker
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

it will repair and or replace any system files that may be getting corrupt.

then just check back to see what the gurus here say about your log files

SFC stopped at 30% and said it found errors but could not fix them. What should I do?

shut down the pc and re-start it , tap the F8 key untill you see the OS start menu,
select boot to safe mode

in safe mode open command prompt:
sfc /scannow

the file system check should repair corrupt system files.

Note: if that even fails then boot to a windows 7 OS disk and under repair my computer, it also gives you access to the command counsel and you can all so run sfc from there to.
