Loading Avast on to my second computer
« on: February 03, 2012, 02:27:05 AM »
I have the paid Home version of Avast & would like to load it onto my second computer.

So I called the Avast help number & the woman told me to just download Avast & insert my existing licence number or licence file.

However, she had a heavy accent & I found her hard to understand.

So I did not ask how to find the number or file.  I thought it would be obvious.  But I can't find it & don't know what to look for anyway.

Please help.

If you paid, then you have avast! Pro.  The other product is avast! FREE for Home use only. If you paid, then you were sent an email license or cade.  The file is "license.avastlic"

Either you paid for Avast Pro, or for AIS. When you paid, you probably provided an email address. The same email address should had received an email. Check you "junk" email folder.

If you still don't find it, look at http://www.avast.com/license-center so to receive the email again (but the email address you will provide now neeeds to be the same one you used the first time).

Thank you.  I searched for it using this file name & found it - filed in an obscure location.

Yes, it must be Avast Pro.

Thanks for the response.

I've now filed all this info in my Avast folder for future reference.

I always liked to hide a copy of the "license.avastlic" in the root of drive C:.  Nobody ever looks there, so it always persists no matter what users delete.
