startup problem after installation

1. now i am running aswMBR again and well, lets see what happens.

2. anyhow, i still wonder how i could get infected since i always used the free avast version before

crashed again. damn this is frustrating. i am already considering to format my harddisc and setup all the stuff new (no, not really, i hat this even more) . i guess i'll go to sleep now and try again tomorrow. thanks for your help so far.

Maybe you should try making a backup of you license file (if using avast Pro or AIS) and then, under Windows Safe Mode use http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility.

Then follow the stickies in the "Viruses and Worms" subforum so to provide the necessary logs.

ok, i'll walk thru that list when i am back home. however, aswMBR.exe doesnt work. it crashes at a certain point. so am i supposed to just go on with the next step in the list?
