no, there's no change (and the auto-sandbox isn't new in V7)

with "new" I meant the new version of the AutoSandbox (the AutoSandbox of the V7 with all the improvements)

that's all I got from the release notes in the first post of this thread:
"Sandbox & Autosandbox improvements"  ;D

... okay this said, there are more settings available for manual sandboxing in V7 (Pro and AIS), and that's all I can see. The option to sandbox browsers from the webrep (browser protection) page is meant for AIS and Pro users too ... obviously ... but well I have a doubt now ... anybody running the free version could tell me if the option to run browsers sandboxed is available (again from the web rep section) ... or not? ... it shouldn't.

Auto-sandboxing might have been improved too, but I have no idea how, may be in relation with the behavior and/or the script shield, but this has to be confirmed by a dev here.

In the free version, Auto Sandbox is still program controlled. That has not changed.
We, the user have no control of which programs are selected to possibly be run Sandboxed.

@bob we're not talking about the same thing (see my screen shot again) .. I know that what you show in your post (auto-sanboxing) is a free feature, while what I show is user controlled sandboxing related.

Auto-sandboxing might have been improved too, but I have no idea how, may be in relation with the behavior and/or the script shield, but this has to be confirmed by a dev here.

Right, that was exactly my question:  if there's any dependency between Behavior Shields and AutoSandbox in V7.

Thanks again.

on a side note, I believe that at least the behavior shield has always interfered with auto-sandboxing from day 1 (ie V5), but not exclusively. The file shield must have something to say too. Can someone from Avast confirm, or not confirm? thx.

Looks interesting :) Two questions:
Haven't seen anything about the file reputation yet, it says it's enabled beneath the summary tab, but there seems to be no way to retrieve a file's reputation. Is something like this still coming?

And what exactly does the compatible install do?

@akama1, which improvements are you wishing?

FileRep is not operational yet.
Compatibility mode allows avast as a 2nd antivirus.

I haven't posted too much over the last few months.   The reason,  I have been using W8-DP exclusively since November.  So I have been using W8 Windows Defender along with some anti-spyware programs and some on demand AV programs.   The combination has worked okay.

Having said that I am glad to see that Avast 7 Public Beta is now available.   I will wait until W8 Consumer Preview comes out at the end of the month before I go back to AIS.

I have read this thread and have two questions at this point.

Will there be a Metro version of AIS?
If so, any idea if the plan is to have available before or when W8 RTM comes out?  I have read W8 RTM will be available in August.

Thanks
