FileRep is not operational yet.
Compatibility mode allows avast as a 2nd antivirus.

agreed ;) in its current design state, that gadget is absolutely ugly.

on a side note, I believe that at least the behavior shield has always interfered with auto-sandboxing from day 1 (ie V5), but not exclusively. The file shield must have something to say too. Can someone from Avast confirm, or not confirm? thx.

Logos, as far as I know in V6 the AutoSandbox is controlled exclusively by the File System Shield.

P.S. I know this post may be a little OT here in the 7 public beta thread - sorry

@Tetsuo:
Logos, as far as I know in V6 the AutoSandbox is controlled exclusively by the File System Shield.
P.S. I know this post may be a little OT here in the 7 public beta thread - sorry

Dependencies:
  • File-system shield is always required (service wouldn't start without file-system shield)
  • Autosandbox requires file-system shield (it controls which application is executed) and sandbox driver
  • IM/P2P shields uses file-system shield
  • Script shield (in v7) uses behavshield or sandbox component for injection; if behav shield isn't installed, then I'm not really sure if script shield would work... hmmm, we'll look at it

@Nesivos:

The reason,  I have been using W8-DP exclusively since November.
avast7 works in W8-DP (without behav.shields/autosandbox), it'll be fixed as soon as W8-Beta is released

Will there be a Metro version of AIS?
If so, any idea if the plan is to have available before or when W8 RTM comes out?  I have read W8 RTM will be available in August.
If you install v7, then avast has a default icon on Metro page. Right now, there're no plans for Metro application, maybe later during this year.

@pk thanks for the info ... as to the script shield, when the behavior shield is deactivated or uninstalled, it stops detecting anything. It's not just in V7, was like that already in V6.

edit: yes I've actually wondered about possible interaction between the script shield and the auto-sandbox.

Hello . I just want to thank everyone at avast for the continuous improvements aver ten years. I used the free for ten years and last year decided you guys deserverved some monetary support, bought ais and have not been disappointed. Thrilled that cloud tech is entering the picture. Please keep it up, Anyone who reads this try to have a little patience as this is beta-- final should be great. I noticed that 7 install is more stable when upgrade from 6 and not a clean install. Again thanks to VLK and everyone else, I know that reviews are not that great for avast at some sites but avast has never let me down and that is what i care about. Please dont drop cloud.

@Tech not really any for now though.... since avast 7 is still in beta... probably would really see a good behaviour shield in the final release :)

Not really. Almost all of the shields are working. The only one that was not when I tested it (that was the pre=beta version) was the Mail Shield
See a video of it at:

I have not re-installed it since since the full version now works on Win 8.
