FileRep is not operational yet.
Compatibility mode allows avast as a 2nd antivirus.
Thanks, realtime or on demand?
On demand.
Not really. Almost all of the shields are working. The only one that was not when I tested it (that was the pre=beta version) was the Mail Shield
See a video of it at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXHuGr1fCc8&list=UUr_7tv1ifz2xRfJo8-_FhVA&index=3&feature=plcp

I have not re-installed it since since the full version now works on Win 8.
I think he was just refering to having avast installed as a second AV Bob which i believe has to be as on demand  ???

AFAIK, the devs. already said that the compatible installation mode is not fully ready yet to be tested in v7.0.1396. We need to wait for it.

@Pk:  Thanks for the info.   For sure I will now wait until after I upgrade to W8 Consumer Preview before installing AIS 7 Beta.

I would think using the compatibility install feature will enable AIS 7 to work alongside W8 Windows Defender which is a full anti-malware program.

If you are using the free version, it doesn't check for spam.

Well, that depends if you want to use/try/test a beta version. ;)
The beta runs smooth here, but you've to decide what to do on your system...

It's beta and therefore requires that you take all the precautions that should always be used when running any beta software.
I've found it to be very stable but using beta's always come with risks.
Im running it on a regular system not VM.

Entering a beta trial isn't something to do lightly and much more so on a non-test machine. It is all about acceptance of a limited risk and how that may impact on your system. No one is going to be able to say exactly how it might react on your system as there are so many different system permutations.

You might have no problems at all, but there can be no guarantees on beta testing other than bugs can and at times occur on beta testing, most be moderate some less so. So it is important that you know and accept this (or wait) and most importantly have a robust backup and recovery strategy. Hard disk imaging software is such a strategy to make it easy to set your system back to what it was before the beta should you experience a problem you can't live with.

I have to agree with Asyn and bob. This "beta" (for me) has really been a good piece of work and I am continually impressed with the direction the dev."s have taken with security and esthetics (GUI presentation). :)

Even the free version which I use and speak about has taken great strides forward IMHO.  :)

If you're willing to spend a little bit of money, the avast!7 Internet Suit gives you an huge amount of  protection
for a very reasonable price.  :)

@ahmed adel,

I agree with DavidR.
Let me only add that you should also keep in mind that there's no removal tool available for V7 at the moment. As far as I remember DavidR wrote on this thread that he had to search and remove leftover of V7 manually in order to do a clean install.

Are there any beta testers in the "no cloud or other reporting of what's on my machine, no browser plugins, no remote connection features, etc" camp and exploring the beta's configuration/operation while sniffing the network for inappropriate Avast traffic?  If so... is it looking as though Avast 7 can be used without the objectionable components and features?
