Disable warning of no "subject" line in email?
« on: December 03, 2004, 05:59:39 PM »
I often send and receive emails to friends and family with nothing in the subject line, but since I very recently came over to Avast from Norton I get these annoying warnings that a virus may possibly have been detected.
I'm assuming this is because there is no subject listed, but is it possible to disable this??

I've looked through the options and can't find anything there that will let me do it.

TIA

Open the Internet Mail provider and lower the heuristics level so it doesn't check the subject line (medium should do it).
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

That's great, David, thank you.

I was set on medium by default, and checked low, and those settings weren't there.  I never thought to check higher to see that option to adjust scanning the subject.

I notice that setting appears to affect outbound messages only.  Although I have been getting lazy myself occasionally, the main culprit is my family (especially my retired dad) - will I have to try and train them in proper email etiquette, or will this also cover incoming messages?

Thanks again

I think it will cover the Inbound Mail too.
You can choose 'Customize' and only uncheck the Subject field option  ;)

Yep, it does work for inbound mail as well.

This seems to be a very nice program with great support.
Thanks for the help!!

Yeah, indeed... Try to come back, solve your doubts and, if you can, share your experience and knowledge with avast  8)
