Avast 6* to 7 program update (avast! free)
« on: February 25, 2012, 05:55:10 PM »
This morning I got the pop for a new program version. I allowed the update and all went well but after reboot it took a while for the program to launch. Well the system tray Icon did not show up and the menu shortcut would not exe. Then it just started running. I'm guessing finishing install. I saw a window briefly with avast 7 after boot but no time to read it.

I was a little bothered by that g-chrome re-install with out an opt-out. I had installed chrome on my own and had it updated to latest. A lot of basic and personal settings in chrome reverted.

I had a little difficulty with the sandbox with a program I had installed. It was set to launch at start up sandbox keep terminating. There is an option on the pop up notification to run in sandbox or run normally. Which had no affect or did not add program to exclusion list. After manually adding the program ran. Have not rebooted yet so don't know if it will allow to run at start up I believe it will.

All in a nice update but what is the connect to an account deal? Rhetorical.

I'm sorry for the confusion. When using the auto program update there was no option to opt-out. The install just started and completed. So there is no help. Its done. The auto program update should work the same as a new install. Or update the current configuration to the new version. This is why they call it a finely release.
