Going from Avast 6 free to Avast full 6
« on: February 25, 2012, 03:48:53 PM »
Ok I need to roll back to 6. I just can't make version 7 work properly.

I have the download for the last version of Avast free 6. I uninstalled 7 with the uninstall tool and installed version 6. I was able through trial and error to insert my current license file which upgraded it to Internet security. I found that the Firewall was not installed, so I went to the control panel and tried to add it via change features. What it did instead was to download version 7 and install that instead.

So how do you turn avast 6 free into avast 6 internet security without being forced to upgrade to version 7 when you try to add the firewall back????

It's not a good idea to downgrade... Which problems are you facing?

It's not a good idea to downgrade... Anyway, I suggest an installation from the scratch:

1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
5. Stay off-line (not connected to Internet)
6. Install again the old version: http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
7. Boot.
Set the program updates to manual.
    Go online.
8. Register avast or insert the license file.

Will it work?
