upgrading Avast 7 crashes all chrome user profiles
« on: February 26, 2012, 01:38:28 PM »
I've just upgraded Avast 7, and I found that Chrome is reinstalled to a new program folder, and all user profiles located in different user defined folders are crashed.  I'm now feeling lost since those user profiles are difficultly created and customized.  I'm very disappointed with this upgrade which is hazardous to latest stable Chrome!  Why did Avast do this to Chrome?  For making money and ignoring the upgrade technique to existing users? :-\

not much to do with V7, but to the bundled Chrome install that you didn't choose to dismiss at setup time. This said Chrome doesn't install in program folder, but in users' profile folders. No idea what happened on your system, if Chrome just got upgraded, or if a new install in a new folder happened, generating a new profile... if that's the second case, you can always retrieve your old profile (called USER DATA) from the old Chrome install and paste where Chrome runs from now.
