Virus Def.
« on: February 28, 2012, 05:14:42 AM »
This might be a dumb question and sorry if it has already been asked, I couldnt find it with the search terms I used.

Does avast mac scan for both Windowz and Mac virus's? or just Mac virus's? I have both Windows and Mac computers on my network at home so it would be nice to be able to use all Avast products if it does scan for both virus's.

Thanks.

Yes, Avast for Mac and Avast for Windows share the same virus database/engine. Most of the detections by the mac version will be for windows viruses, for example if you have a bootcamp volume that gets an infection it would be picked up by the Mac version when doing a manual on-demand scan of that volume
