Scheduling a scan no longer works
« on: February 28, 2012, 05:34:52 PM »
Admittedly it's confusing trying to scheduled a scan due to those strange US date formats (dd/mm/yy would be nice, please) but scheduled scans don't start any more following the last upgrade. I used to set it to start in the night and shut down when it had finished. I now wake up to find the computer is still on and no scan has run.

Still working on both my XP Pro and win7 netbook with avast 7.0.1407.

I have mine set for a weekly scan Sunday at 00:05, though I don't have mine set to shut down after the scan. Mind you my systems are likely to be active at that point in time or in standby not hibernation.

What exactly have you scheduled (type of scan, type of scheduling, ...)?
Seems to work fine here.

ok, could you be more specific about the issue? What is the avast version? What exactly you did - steps? Did you try to wake on lan or sleep after scan features? It's not obvious what exactly didn't work..
thx

Windows Vista Home Premium SP2. I set it to run a full scan at 1am (1:00) on 28/02/12 (or 02/28/12 if you're American) and went to bed, expecting it to run and shut down the PC. The following morning the PC was on Standby and the scan had not run.

So I set it to run in 5 minutes time, again with shutdown specified, with a view to letting it scan and shut down while I was out for the day. I checked it 10 minutes later and nothing had happened. No scan.

So I posted here to see if anyone else has the problem or just me. Apparently just me. :-(

Edit: Avast version 7.0.1407

Tested it again and it started up as scheduled. Very strange. Call it "operator error" I guess. Sorry for the misdirect but I was convinced at the time, having failed on more than one occasion.

Thanks for the help and feedback.
