Anti Virus

I want to install the avast anti virus. I have windows XP.

I have all ready down loaded it and am ready to install.

Does any one know of any problems with XP and this anti virus ?

No problems at all. Go ahead and install. But if you have/had another av on your system, make sure it is removed completely.

Since you are new to Avast, I suggest you take some time to read the help/manual to get famliair with it. Also do a little reading/searching on this board. There is a lot of information to discover ;)

VRDB is running. Still slow. Will un install later. Thanks for all your help. I will take time to read manual also.

Set the VRDB to be generated only when the system is idle. See if that solves it.

You can also deactive the providers you don't use (P2P, IM or Outlook, for instance).
You can set the sensitivity to the Normal level (and not High).

Eddy:  Still very slow.As you can tell I am dumb with computers. There is something I am doing wrong. I have un-installed Avast. Will have my son try to help me. I will get back to you.

Since you have uninstalled Avast, it is not Avast who is causing the slowdown. Make sure your system is clean from any malware. Click on the link in my signature and visit the "malware removal" section. Do as explained there. If needed, with the help of your son ofcourse.
