had the issue this morning. Tried installing beta over 7.01407 and got an error. Tried uninstalling 7.01407 and got an error. Rebooted in safe mode, ran the uninstaller. Rebooted and installed 7.01412 no problem. Now I can do manual updates again.

Hopefully this will not become a trend where we need to upgrade version every time there is a problem with manual updates.

Guys, this problem affects only the ability to update the program. The antivirus protection is not affected.

From what version to what version are you updating? Thanks a lot.

Was just reading here and so look at my avast on two computers. I always let it update on the restart. One showed 120302-0 in green, the other computer it was red. Restarted the computer with it in red and now it is green. Is this the latest def- 120302-0? If so I guess mine is working?

Thanks craigb, so I guess I will do nothing. Do not understand because the one in red was green earlier today and the restart fixed that. But why? what is going on?

I'm getting no message about the package being broken.

It just hangs at "initializing..."
It did this a few days ago, the downloaded fix from avast sorted it out. It doesn't fix it now.

Current version: 120302-0
Program
7.0.1407

in avast free 7.0.1407  manual update program :

It stopped at
Step 1 / 3
File Downloaded: part-setup_ais-57f.vpx

Same here, impossible to update !!!

Config: Winxp 32 bits
Product: Avast free

I tried all I could find:

- First fix utility:
Your avast! installation doesn't seem to have the problem this fix is supposed to solve (code:11)

- Second fix utility:
Your avast! installation doesn't seem to have the problem this fix is supposed to solve (code:2)

- Full install avast7r2beta/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
1°) Error reading product data from "C:\Program File\AVAST\Software\Avast\setup". Setup cannot continue
2°) An error 0 (00000000) has occured. Last performed operation was: spawning

What do you propose?
grazie

I think you missed a step which is to boot in safe mode and run the avast uninstaller

Your Def's are already up to date so what do you expect to fix ::)

Glad to see that it is up to date :)

Hoping to fix that it won't try and update, just says 'initializing, please wait...' there is no yellow progress bar.
It doesn't try to update, (if there are no updates it usually trys to update and then says there are none available).
