« on: March 05, 2012, 03:16:37 AM »
So, I install avast, and then when I log into windows after a reboot my icons don`t appear on the screen and the entire system is frozen.  No ctrl-alt-del no ctrl-alt-esc  Nothing.

Windows 7 HP 35 on an Alienware M11X
I woudl like to reinstall it (Need to uninstall it to use my computer) any ideas

Do you have the special uninstall utility for Avast? If so, if you can put that onto a USB device, boot into safe mode, and run the uninstall utility, that might help. If not, then do you have a recent system image backup that you could use a rescue disk to restore, then try the beta version on the next install. Or else the last working version 6 on the next install.

You'll need to uninstall in safe mode, then run sys/reg cleaner to scrub any remnant files.
