iTunes and error -50

I've been using Avast! Internet Security for some time with iTunes without issues.  Recently I decided to upgrade my internet service from 10mbps/512mbps to 50mbps/5mbps.  After upgrading, I started having -50 errors when downloading content in iTunes.  Per the iTunes website the problem pointed to the firewall, so I shut off Avast! completely (all shields) and it eliminated the -50 errors in iTunes.

Is there a solution to this problem, so that I don't have to shut down Avast! while downloading iTunes content?
