Hello,

On Windows 7 and 8 64 Bit OS when Avast 6 and now 7 is installed at start up the "Network Internet Access" Icon in the system tray has a Yellow exclamation mark! And reports no internet access even though I in fact do have internet access and can get on online.

Sometimes the Yellow exclamation mark goes away after maybe a few minutes and sometimes it stays a lot longer. But like I said I can still get online.

I ran some tests and when Avast is not installed I never get the  Yellow exclamation mark at start up.

As soon as I install Avast I start getting the  Yellow exclamation mark again.

Is this a known bug? And can it be fixed?

Also no other AntiVirius software causes this issue.

It even does it after a fresh install of Windows with Avast installed.

Thanks

Yeah, it has been seen before.   I noticed it once....I forget, maybe 6 months ago or more?   There was a thread on it, a forum search might turn it up for you.

As for fixing it, I forget if there was a way, but I know mine at some point stopped doing that on its own, maybe after a Win. update.   Maybe if you track that thread down you might find one, but I just didn't care once I realized it was just cosmetic, that I still was connected despite the yellow sign, I stopped caring about it.

As far as "no other anti-virus software causes this"?  ... ::) ::) c'mon, don't put your foot too far in your mouth there, no offense, but I can't see how you would know that for sure one way or another, with all the brands out there.

Hey cool I thought I would register an account and post on behalf of the other 1085 people so far that have accessed this page that we all thing it's really swell that you found the solution to your problem.  Even better, you took the time to actually log back in and post another update to tell us all that you found the problem.  That's super!

Then you don't bother to mention at all HOW you resolved the problem or WHERE you found a solution.  That's awesome!  This thread is literally wasting space on the internets and offering no useful information whatsoever!

Why do I seem bitter?  I just did a fresh install of windows, loaded up a few basics like drivers and antivirus, and I started to have this problem.  I recall having it before but it's been a while.  How exactly can I make a pinhole sized exception in Avast to prevent this false alarm yellow bang?  And don't worry if I do find a solution somewhere else I'll be sure to log back in here and yell "EUREKA!" and then follow it up with absolutely nothing.....

Edit Web Shield settings and check the box to "scan traffic from well known browser processes only".

We have been using Avast for a number of years but only after the most recent update has this "No Internet Access" warning appeared.

This solution worked for me, but presumably the setting is less secure than leaving the box unchecked?

Kind Regards, Stephen

Posting in an ancient topic (2012) isn't very good.
Explain your problem in a new topic and we'll be glad to help.  :)
