Avast IS version 7.0.1426 running on Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, logged into a "standard" (non-admin) user account.

If I force a program update form the user interface, maintenance section, it checks for an updated version, determines that I am on the latest version, but still prompts me to reboot the computer. I am sure that it didn't used to do this, and I cannot see that it should be intended.

Any views?

If it does happen again, check this out - avast! need to restart notification, when you haven't just done a program update, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=28547.msg233217#msg233217.

Whilst this is a very old topic, I don't know if that registry key/switch is still in use, but would be easy to check out if it is present.

Do you happen to have any registry protection application (as it could be blocking the removal of this registry element) ?
