Multiple problems

I need some help please.
My Avast has stopped working. It says  "System is unsecured" I click on the Fix Button and nothing happens. Also when I click the restart button  same  thing....NOTHING happens.
I tried to uninstall but it says   Error reading product data.
So I am stuck with a non functioning program.
To add insult to injury I paid to upgrade to new version for 2 years. I was sent an activation key via email and it is EMPTY !!!!
What do I do now?  In simple terms please.

 BTW. To post or use the site you need to copy the verification words which are VERY hard to read. They may be there to deter bots but really....  Seems they could make it a bit easier to determine those words.

Hi,
try this:

1. Save a copy of Avast for the product you need and save it to your HDD (if not already done) :
http://www.avast.com/download-software – all products (Free, Pro, AIS)
2. Download the Avast Uninstall Utility http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe and save it to your HDD.
3. Disconnect from the Internet at this time.
4. Go to Control Panel and uninstall Avast through Add/Remove Programs if possible and reboot.
5. If Step 4 fails, boot into Safe Mode (hit F8 repeatedly) and run the Avast Uninstall Tool.  Uninstall ALL previous versions (4.0, 6.0) and products of Avast you had on this machine one at a time and reboot in between each uninstall.
6. Reboot.
7. Install the newest version of Avast and reboot.
8. Get Internet access and register your copy or add the license key for Free, Pro, or AIS.
9. Update the Avast definitions.
