I have an Asus UL80Vt-A1 which has 2 graphics chips (Intel GMA 4500MHD and NVidia GeForce G210M with 512MB dedicated VRAM). Asus provides a software utility called Power4gear Hybrid for switching from one to the other on the fly. Also there is a button on the keyboard that also selects the graphics mode.

After upgrading to Avast 7 that functionality has been impaired. Neither the hardwire switch nor the software utility work. There is a warning message in the system tray that tells me to disable avastui.exe to be able to switch.

Of course using Task Manager to try to terminate avastui does not work.

Using the Avast interface to turn off avast temporarily does not work (apparently the program needs to be gone, not just inactive).

I have resorted to using 6.0.1426 (which was the latest version I had that was a complete download) until this gets fixed. Judging by the many problems people are posting about I am going to presume it will take a couple months.
