Outlook/Exchange not working

By now I have to computers where, after upgrade to Avast 4.5, the Outlook/Exchange subsystem is not working. It "waits for subsystem to start" but if you start Outlook (2003 btw) nothing happens. Also the "flash" for Avast does not show up when you start Outlook. In Outlook I can see the add-in and it is ticked to be loaded.

the PCs run windowsXP SP2. I have tried uninstall/reinstall of both Avast and Outlook but with no sucess.

Any help/assistance welcome cause there is a lot coming in via email....

Vik, thanks! That was exactly the problem and the solution! May I suggest you put this in FAQ?
