Eudora mail
« on: December 13, 2004, 12:15:37 PM »
Since my last update of my Avast Home i have trouble with my Eudora mail. I cannot sent mail if the option 'scan outbound e-mail' is selected.
And since last week (new update?) i even cannot recieve my Eudora Email.
What settings do I need to change to solve these problems.
Thank you

Hi and welcome, zon,

I'm sure there'll be better answers along before too long, but the first question (possibly way off the mark) that occurred to me is, do you use a router which might play with your server's IP address?  Since I don't use one myself, I haven't a clue whether avast can handle those as neatly as with "ordinary" connections.

My primary mail is with Eudora (6.2) off my ISP's server, and I had no problems at all, either with the Mail Wizard under 4.1 or with the new setup under 4.5.

Best,
Mike

What OS are you using?
Are you using a proxy server?
Does your email account requires authentication or ssl?

What have you tried sofar to solve it?

Well i know nothing much about it, so i tried little.
Just turning off the different parts of Avast (mail, p2p etc) to see where is the prolem. But then still i cannot recieve mail, omly when i completely turn off Avast ( :(, that is not why i have it...).
I have EUdora 6.1 this and my Avast Home are both in a (more or less) standard configuration, because i know too little to find out what is usefull to change.
My e-mail comes in with a pop3 server en goes out with a local smtp, it needs authentication.
How can i get my email in WITH a virusscan from Avast?

The version 4.5 has a new mail detection that will work automatically. Please, set up your email account just as avast does not exists. It will detect the pop3/smpt/imap ports and scan your messages. Can you make a try and see if it's ok? Thanks.

If this does not work, can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
At last, if this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Hello Technica,

I do not understand your explaination.

I think i set up my e-mail account as if there is no Avast, since i do not know how to set it up any differentely.

But of course i can try to reinstall Avast.

thank you.

So, if you're using Windows XP (or 2k), it will works... Sorry for the bad explanation.

But of course i can try to reinstall Avast.

You can try the repair function before  ;)
