Installing Avast on Linpus Linux
« on: March 31, 2012, 12:36:01 AM »
I have been trying for days to install Avast on an Acer PC with Linpus Linux. I have the .rpm package in my downloads folder, but when I try to install it with a yum command, the terminal can't find it. It look in the Linpus Linux repositories but not in local folders, but it still says "Nothing to do". When I filed a ticket with Avast, the person said he only had experience with DEB files and didn't refer me to any one else.

I have used the filename, the directory pathway., and other combinations. No go. I cannot find yum RPM on my machine. There is a packagekitd executable, but when I try to open it I get a box saying that no viewer is installed for viewing.

I'm beginning to think that Linpus is a rather shoddy distribution. Avast hasn't been helpful either.
