Do you mean it is being installed in background even in the automatic update? Isn't it only for the on demand (via site) update?

I let my auto update for adobe do its thing and an icon for Macaffe pop up on the screan.No big deal to uninstall but really strange it didn't give me a choice.

That's why I never use the auto update. I just get a notification to update.
