I suggest running a repair of avast via programs and features first to see if that cures your updating issue, as for a good program to run alongside of avast then that would be Malwarebytes - you can either run the free version or the paid for realtime protection and auto updates ( lifetime license about $25-$30 )

As far as i know AOL is just a search engine ( not a browser ) so yes avast will work.

Well ccleaner doesn't have any routines for avast7 and it is in the same location as avast6 would be so to all intents and purposes ccleaner couldn't tell. What I will say is don't allow ccleaner to clean any avast locations (logs or temp).

Where is it saying you have avg 2012 ?
Have you ever had and or how did you get rid of avg 2012 ?

The ccleaner in the Applications tab lists many programs that you may or many not have installed.

Uninstall can on occasion leave remnants:
See http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/, this has a collection of manufactures removal tools, so that should remove any remnants, registry, etc.

I don't know why your system doesn't have the voice, it should be the same, it is on mine. Or are you saying you have a different voice or no voice at all ?

Check your sound setup as some sound drivers (Realtek) have separate sound equalisers/settings and the one for avast may be muted.

There are a few topics on avast sounds not working, you could try the forum search and see if they also give any information.
