Violating outbound email protection
« on: December 16, 2004, 05:06:12 AM »
Hi...I'm running 4.5 and now everytime I try to send a message i get "Outlook Express has violated outbound email rules.  Do you want to allow this message to be sent?"  Application msimn.exe.  And it says the violation is that my email address does not match, when in fact the address listed is my address.  The destination address listed does have capital letters tha  the violation address does not.

But I don't know how to fix this.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

What exactly is giving you this message?
OE, Avast, other application?
What other security software do you have installed? (spamfilter?

KathyC, probably avast is detecting you're sending an email to yourself...
Did you change any Heuristic module settings? Which one?

Hi again....

Aha, it's Zone alarm with AntiVirus giving the message.....

And I forgot to say that it also gives "Avast Email Scanner Service  has violated outbound email rules." right after the Outlook Express message.

So for each message I have to hit "Accept" to get the email out.

I went into ZA Program Control and I have green checks by all the Avast/OE  lines under the Access and Send Mail columns, not under the Server column.

Heuristics was set to Medium.  I changed it to low and I still get the same messages.

Thanks for getting back to me!

Oh sorry, I should add that the Heuristics was for Internet Mail.

Outlook Express is set to Normal, not custom.

And, I don't get these messages when I use earthlink mail directly, just when going through OE.   I do have OE set to send me a copy of the email.

Hope I've given you enough info.

Your avast Heuristics won't show that message...
You should correct the ZA settings.
Sorry, I do not use it... Maybe other user could help here  :-[

Thanks everyone.......I think I'll take this to the Zone Alarm Forum.  A more appropriate place for it!  Sorry for the bother.  But thanks for making me actually look at where the message was coming from!
