Malware checking for *all* operating systems
« on: May 06, 2012, 02:47:38 AM »
By pure serendipity, a couple weeks ago I discovered I had files on my Mac that were infected with Windows malware.  The malware had not been discovered by a competing product.  For other reasons, I removed that product.  Avast free is now installed, my third AV product for my Mac.

Will any Avast product find any malware for any OS that should be trying to find it's way onto my Mac?

Most of my friends are Windows users, and I've no desire to pass Windows malware along to them inadvertantly.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Is it safe to assume the reverse is true?  I.E., if Avast is installed on a Windows computer, malware intended for a Mac would be found and deleted?

I've learned to never "assume" anything, at least most of the time.    ;D

Great!!  This is one thing I'm looking for in a new AV program.  And the ability to have the same program on both OS's.

Thanks again.   :)
