403 Error When Updating AIS
« on: April 13, 2012, 05:05:35 AM »
I noticed earlier today that Avast failed to update. I went into the program and tried a manual update, and I'm receiving error 403. I majored in computer networking in college, so I know that error 403 is Forbidden or Access Denied from the server. I was wondering if the update servers are undergoing maintenance or whether I have a problem. Thanks.

I am running Windows 7 Professional x32, Avast Internet Security 7.0.1426

If you boot the computer and it happens again, well, then let's dig further. But it seems a temporary glitch in your connection with the servers.

Ok it seems to be doing it on every networked PC with the software installed. I've checked my firewall and proxy server logs and configuration, and they are performing fine. When the program attempts to update, it gives the 403 error, but if I manually navigate to the update site
(http://174.36.251.139/iavs5x/servers.def) it displays the configurations fine.
