I'll try to switch ext HD's and look for it but I don't think I saved it. When I try to safely unplug the EHD it says can't stop now so will keep trying. I may have to stop for tonight and come back tomorrow so if I don't post again in next 30 min. you'll know I had to get off. Thanks so much for your help!!

Switched EHD's and the files that I copied from main computer were done on 3/27 so the msgs from 4/5 aren't on it so I guess we're sunk!

Dont worry.

We will use a CD to get your files back, if we cannot get it fixed. :)

That's the other thing....I bought my computer in 9/08 as a refurb tower. They had a license to load XP on it but I didn't get any rescue or boot discs with it. My son might have something like that and I can ck with him by phone tomorrow. I'm trying to avoid the expense of taking it into the computer store but may not be able to. I'm hoping that the hardware wasn't somehow damaged or XP. I'm going to sign off for tonight and will come back on tomorrow prob. about 1pm EST. Thanks again for your help!

LOL! I may not be understanding what you're saying but will learn!

I'm back, Anthony, a bit later than I said. Nothing new. Do have some questions tho. Does Win XPpro, sp3, log "serious errors" as in that message? If so, where would they be kept?
