Avast Internet security
« on: April 17, 2012, 10:17:01 PM »
Hello alltogether,
I have bought Avast Internet security several days ago from the correct provider,
but it shows every few hours that I have a pirate version  :-[
I have downloaded and installed the right file and inserted my licensedata correctly and each time the message shows up.
But nothing changes - what can I do to have it working correctly?

I'm running avast5 free for several years and never had problems ...

Best wishes from Germany

Where did you purchase it ?
What version of AIS did you get, the latest version is 7.0.1426 ?

You should have received  the license file and that is license.avastlic (not license.dat, etc.), double clicking on the file should insert the license for you. Trying to manually copy it may be what the problem is.

How did you install it, e.g. did you first uninstall avast5 free ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Thank you for your quick answer, DavidR!

I purchased it from Element 5 Digital River - that should be ok for Germany
Yes, this is the version I got
Yes, I received the license file and did as you suggest
No, I did not uninstall avast5 - could this cause the problem?

Yes, that may be the problem, a clean install may resolve this:
- Download the latest AIS version of avast, 7.0.1426 http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn't save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.

- Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for 5.x, 6.0.x and 7.0.x).
  • 1. Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can't do that start from the next step), reboot.
  • 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 5.x if previously installed and then for 7.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.
  • 3. install the latest version, reboot.

Hi Rainintheface,

please contact avast! Support with your email used when you bought the license:
http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=tickets&_a=submit

They will investigate your problem and can issue another license file to fix it (if needed ;-))

Thank you,

Vladimir

Thanks a lot DavidR - it seems to have worked!  ;D

Thank you too, Vladimir - I think I could manage it without support ticket  ;)

And now good night to you all - it was an exciting evening!
